Going without Windstorm Coverage

Yesterday's Sun-Sentinel had an interesting article about going bare on windstorm (hurricane) coverage. Here is the link click here. BBB is quoted twice in the article because of our expertise with homeowners insurance. We strongly advise against going completely bare- if you are concerned about your increased windstorm insurance, BBB advises that increasing your deductible can help save you substantially- this allows you to take on some of the risk and still have coverage for a catastrophic event (read Cat 5 hurricane going directly over your home). Insureds increasing their windstorm deductibles or going bare should ensure they have the financial means to cover repairs when needed.
