Citizens Assessments

Most consumers do not realize that Citizens will now assess it's policyholders first in the case of a shortfall. Currently all Florida insurance policyholders are paying assessments to cover the 2004 and 2005 hurricane losses. Citizens policyholders will be the first to be assessed for any furture needs and the assessment can be as much as 45% of their premium.

Burke, Bogart & Brownell urges Citizens policyholders to explore other options whenever possible.
